The weekend evening newscast he anchors has won a remarkable six consecutive Emmys (2010-2015) for "Best Weekend Newscast." Bill has earned 22 Emmy nominations during that time.
He won both a National Walter Cronkite Award and a Regional Edward R. Murrow award for excellence in political coverage. He has also won two reporting awards and two "Best Anchor" awards (2014 and 2015) from the Ohio Associated Press.
"Growing up in Baltimore, I watched a weatherman who made television look fun. I also used to stay up until 2 am watching Tom Snyder on the old "Tomorrow" show on NBC in the mid 1970s. He made television look interesting with his mesmerizing interviews of important and fascinating people. I also loved baseball and wanted to be a play-by-play announcer for the Orioles.
"Eventually, I worked as a weatherman in Washington, DC for nine years (it WAS fun). I also hosted a political talk show on a cable network seen across the nation (like Tom Snyder-- that was VERY interesting). For a time, I was even a sports anchor for one of my stations until they could hire someone with real skills. So, in a way, I've done everything I ever dreamed in media.
"But my proudest role is husband to the enormously patient and understanding Peverley Reyes since 2001. We are the bemused and admittedly over-matched parents of twin boys, Ryan and Connor, born in 2012."
