Diane is a journalist who's won several awards for her reporting and a number of honors for her contributions to the community and to broadcasting. In 2005, she was awarded the Golden Touchstone Award by the Toledo Press Club. In 2007, Diane was inducted in the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Hall of Fame. In 2008, she was selected the 2008 YWCA Milestones Business Honoree. And in 2009 she won an Emmy for her behind the scenes television special on the traveling Broadway musical "The Lion King."
Among her more memorable assignments were going to China in 1988 to cover the story of the Panda exhibit at the Toledo Zoo; traveling to Israel in 2011 with the WNIT Champion University of Toledo Rockets, covering President Bill Clinton's first inauguration, moderating a number of political debates that were broadcast live on C-SPAN and reporting from the red carpet at the Oscars in 1999.
What you see on TV is only a part of what Diane does for the community. She's helped raise tens of millions of dollars for several local organizations like the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, The Muscular Dystrophy Association, Taste of the Nation Toledo, which helps to eliminate childhood hunger, Adopt America Network, an organization that works to find homes for hard-to-place children and many others.
She's been the emcee of the YWCA Milestones Award to honor outstanding women in our community for most of the past decade and is a fixture at the fundraising dinner gala that kicks off the always exciting week of the LGPA tournament that is now known as the Marathon Classic.
