Ohio AG: 13,000 rape kits tested as part of special initiative

TOLEDO (13abc Action News) - Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that more than 13,000 sexual assault kits have been analyzed as part of a special initiative to test previously untested kits in the state.

DeWine says the goal is to "hold accountable sexual predators who may have thought they had long ago gotten away with their crimes."

The Attorney General's office says in Cuyahoga County alone, more than 620 defendants have been indicted following DNA testing conducted as part of the effort.
