Hurricane disaster phone bank raises money for Irma victims

TOLEDO, Ohio (13abc Action News) - They gave big again. People throughout Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan stepped up to donate money to the Red Cross during a phone bank on Monday.

Donations were accepted all day to help the victims of Hurricane Irma.

The phone bank at 13abc continued for 13 hours and raised thousands of dollars for the American Red Cross. The phone bank was co-sponsored by the Blade and 13abc. An earlier phone bank was also successful in raising funds for victims of Hurricane Harvey. Former UT and NFL quarterback Bruce Gradkowski stopped by to make a donation and urge others to do the same. Volunteers at the phone bank included employees of Huntington Bank.

Donations may still be sent through the organization's web site at Some Red Cross volunteers leave Tuesday to help with recovery efforts of Hurricane Irma.
