Toledo firefighters battle vacant house fire filled with garbage, debris

TOLEDO, Ohio (13abc Action News) - The City of Toledo is working to tear down a vacant home on the 3000 block of North Erie after it caught fire.

Toledo firefighters were called to the blaze around 2:30 Saturday morning.

The battalion chief tells 13abc the home was filled with garbage and debris, which made it hard for crews to battle the flames. In some places the trash was stacked two to three feet high.

A family in a house next door to the burning home was evacuated as a precaution. The Red Cross is expected to assist the family.
