SYLVANIA (WTVG) — The topic is safety and security.

It was chosen last fall, but after the shooting in Parkland, FL, it now has renewed urgency.

It also comes hours after Sylvania Schools reports a bomb threat Southview High School.

Last night, police conducted a sweep of the building and gave it the “all clear.”

This morning, some parents will likely want to hear more details.

Sylvania School Parent Organization is set to hold its monthly meeting Friday, March 2, at noon.

It will take place inside the family center of McCord Road Christian Church.

Officers from Sylvania Police will talk about active shooter training, known as A.L.I.C.E., as well as building procedures and staff training techniques when it comes to safety.

Administrators will also review the safety plan and strategies already in place.

For those who cannot attend, Sylvania Schools Parent Organization will stream the meeting live on Facebook.
