Washington Local School board member Patrick Hickey resigns amid sexual conduct charges

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Washington Local School Board member Patrick Hickey resigned Tuesday amid possible sexual conduct charges. His attorney, Lorin Zaner made the announcement during a news conference.

Zaner says Hickey will submit a resignation letter (pictured below) to Washington Local Schools.

Hickey was charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct on Tuesday, according to court documents.

Hickey has denied the allegations. Zaner says Hickey has passed a polygraph test regarding the allegations.

Zaner also says that Hickey plans to turn himself in to authorities.

Michigan State Police reopened an investigation earlier this year dating back an alleged incident in which Hickey was accused of having sex with a student when he was a teacher at Addison Community Schools. The incident allegedly happened in 1987. According to the Lenawee County Prosecutor's office, the investigation started in 2016. The alleged victim did not take part in the initial investigation.
