Adrian cobbler retiring after 58 years

ADRIAN, Michigan (WTVG) - Tim "Shoeman" Berggren has been saving soles for more than fifty years. In 1980, he opened his current shop in Adrian. Since then, he's built his business, met his wife and become part of the community. His wife, Lisa, has spent more time at the shop lately, working along side The Shoeman.

Shoeman says he loves what he does and if he had to do it all over again, he wouldn't change a thing. He says what he does is a dying art that takes patience, talent and imagination.

Berggren says he's not worried about the store's future. A local man is taking over and Shoeman will be by his side for the first few months to show him the ropes.

And what does a retired cobbler and his wife do in retirement? Well, Berggren says he's got three dogs to play with and a couple Harleys to ride. "I'm going to make up for lost time," said Berggren.
