BG 8th-grader struck by car driven by high school student

BOWLING GREEN (WTVG) - An 8th grade student was struck by a car driven by a high school student in Bowling Green Thursday morning.

According to Bowling Green police, it happened around 7:30 at the intersection of Poe and Fairview, near Bowling Green High School.

Police say a minivan, driven by a 16-year-old BGHS school student, was westbound on Poe, turning onto Fairview. At the same time, an 8th grade student was in the crosswalk.

The pedestrian was hit by the mirror of the minivan, and he was knocked to the ground.

The 16-year-old driver, police say, didn't initially realize he hit someone. He stopped down the block.

The 8th-grader was treated at the scene.

According to Bowling Green PD, the minivan had the right of way.

Police say that, as of right now, charges are not pending.

The names of those involved have not been released.
