PERRYSBURG Ohio (WTVG) - The Best Buy location at 10017 Fremont Pike in Perrysburg will close at in October. A company spokesperson confirms the location has seen slumping sales in recent years. The spokesperson tells 13abc the retailer has chosen not to renew the lease for the Perrysburg location.
In a statement, Best Buy explains, “It’s never an easy decision to not renew a store lease. This was a business decision and has no reflection on our staff or the hard work they have done. This store opened in 2007 as Best Buy was competing with Circuit City. Unfortunately, sales at this store have declined in recent years as customers in the area have shown us that they prefer to shop at our other Toledo area stores, both of which have a bigger variety of vendor experiences.”
The company says there are about 26 permanent, full-time employees. There are also some part-time employees at the store. Those employees were notified of the pending closure. A spokesperson says Best Buy hopes to keep as many employees as possible at other locations. All full-time and part-time employees who do not stay with Best Buy will be offered a severance package.
The Perrysburg Best Buy location will remain open through the close of business on October 28, 2017.
