Bitter cold sparks need at area homeless shelter

PERRYSBURG Ohio (WTVG) - Recent frigid temperatures and below-zero wind chills are creating big needs for one area homeless shelter.

Family House of Toledo helps provide homes for more than 850 people and families in our community each year. The shelter is a transitional facility, working to get families back on their feet and helping them live independently. The shelter says people who leave there often take basic living supplies with them, including warm bedding.

The shelter takes donations of throw blankets and baby blankets year-round. However, the people who run Family House of Toledo say they need proper bedding for their 115 beds to keep residents warm.

Levis Commons is collecting new and gently used, clean, Twin size comforters, sheets and pillow cases for Family House. Donations can be dropped off at Salvatore Capelli Spa at Levis Commons, 4105 Chappel Drive during all business hours through Sunday January 14th. Salvatore Capelli is offering a 10% discount on services when two comforters are donated.
