Brothers sentenced for deadly stabbing at Maumee Bay State Park

TOLEDO (13abc Action News) - The two brothers involved in the deadly stabbing before a firework show at Maumee Bay State Park last summer received their punishment.

Maurice Clark, 23, was sentenced to 25 years behind bars for stabbing and killing Karl Avery Jr.

Clark's younger bother, Elijah, admitted to being with him at the time of the stabbing and was sentenced to four years in prison.

Earlier this month, Clark entered an Alford plea deal. As part of that deal, his charges changed from murder to involuntary manslaughter.

Out of Clark's 25 year sentence, 11 of those years are for the actual stabbing and killing of Avery.

Avery leaves behind a seen-year-old daughter.
