TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) -- A man who lives at Airport Manor says he was on his couch when a car barreled through the side of his apartment. It happened just before 5:00AM New Year's Day on the 3900 block of Airport Highway in Toledo.

In the driver's seat of that car, police found a man who had died. Officers say he was the only one inside the vehicle.

Toledo police identified that man as Quincy Holmes. The investigation was originally treated as an accident. Police later discovered a bullet hole in the vehicle's door and ruled Holmes' death the first homicide in Toledo of 2018. The Coroner's Office confirmed that Holmes was shot at least once and that was the cause of his death. The investigation is now being handled as a homicide.
