TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The Lucas County Sheriff's Office tracked down a suspected car thief on Wednesday. Detectives arrested Christopher Badgett, 46 and charged him with aggravated robbery.
Surveillance video shows a man going into a convenience store at Hill and McCord early in the morning on August 30th. The man left the car running with the keys in the ignition. That's when the thief approaches. He gets in the 2001 silver four door Malibu car and starts to pull out. The owner of the car runs out and tries to stop him.
"I tried to open the door. I couldn't get it open. So I reached in and tried to grab the keys out of the ignition and that's when he took off in reverse," said the victim Bradley Hunkapiller.
The victim says the car thief ran over his chest, leg and arm. He says luckily he only suffered a few bruises and a broken ankle.
Christopher Badgett should face a judge on Wednesday.
