TOLEDO, Ohio (13abc Action News) - Toledo’s 2017 Leaf Collection program begins on Monday, October 30. The Division of Streets, Bridges & Harbor demonstrated equipment Friday used for leaf collection, and reviewed for the public where to place raked leaves, depending on whether streets are curbed or uncurbed.
According to the city, because the initial schedule will be modified due to weather and other factors, “Leaf Briefs” will be provided to the media each Friday. Updates on the collection process will also be posted for citizens to track on the City’s website at www.toledo.oh.gov with one click on the “Streets, Bridges & Harbor” icon on the landing page.
Citizens are encouraged to plan their lawn cleanups in advance of the time their zip code is scheduled for pickup and by signing up to receive specific leaf collection text alert messages.
Here are a few things city crews want residents to do to prepare for leaf pick-up:
-Push leaves to the curb two days before scheduled pickup
-Remove any twigs or tree limbs from piles
-Move parked cars and garbage cans from the street on collection day
-Keep leaf piles to three feet wide
Residents may watch, as always, for Leaf Collection signs to be posted in their neighborhoods, remembering not to park on the street when signs are up.
