There are 27 properties listed on the Ohio Department of Health website that are deemed a lead hazard and residents have been ordered to vacate. The challenge is making sure the residents have left.
The Toledo Lucas County health department posts an "order to vacate" on the property. But some residents who own the property haven't left because they say they have no where else to go.
Toledo-Lucas County Health Department Commissioner Eric Zgodzinski says "you already have a kid that is poisoned, so you're going into a home where the child is poisoned." "We are going to work with the prosecutor to charge these homeowner criminally if they don't comply with orders to vacate."
