Dog rescued from the ice, firefighters remind community to be safe

OTTAWA COUNTY, Ohio (WTVG) - Authorities are using a rescue story to serve as a reminder that no ice is safe ice.

Members of the Continental fire department saved a dog from the ice Thursday.

The Ottawa fire department posted the following message on its Facebook page today.

"Great save today Continental Fire Department!
Take this as a reminder to stay off of the ice, even though it looks frozen solid, it may not be as thick as it appears. If an animal falls through, call 911! We have the gear and training to get to the animals that you may not have. Don't go out onto the ice, as you may become a victim as well!
Stay safe everyone!"
