FINDLAY (WTVG) - In Findlay, a family of five is out of a home after an overnight house fire.
This information is coming to us from Findlay firefighters and the North Central Ohio chapter of the American Red Cross.
This house fire started at about midnight Tuesday at 1804 Cherry Lane. That's not far from the Findlay Village Mall.
A battalion chief with the Findlay Fire Department says when crews first arrived at the two story home, they saw fire coming out of the roof as well as heavy smoke. He says the home will most likely be torn down. Findlay firefighters say they're not considering this fire suspicious in nature at this time.
The cold weather also proved to be a challenge in the firefight. Firefighters say they couldn't secure a water supply at first because the closest fire hydrant to them was frozen.
Two adults and three children safely made it out of the home. The Red Cross is helping them with a temporary place to stay, food and clothing.
As of 6:00 AM, firefighters are still at this house fire. An investigator will return to the scene to figure out a cause and assess the damage later this morning.
