Sandusky County couple displaced after fire destroys home

ROLLERSVILLE, Ohio (WTVG) - Firefighters from eight departments battled a house fire in Rollersville, just outside of Bradner early Thursday morning.

It happened on S. County Road 26, just south of US 6.

Firefighters on scene say that a couple and their dog live at the home. They say a woman was sleeping on the couch and woke up to crackling noises. Everyone made it out of the house safely.

Crews from Brander, Risingsun, Helena, Gibsonburg, Woodville, Pemberville, Madison and Kansas all responded to the scene. Sandusky County EMS and the Red Cross also assisted. Tankers were called to provide water. They say that the frigid temperatures made it difficult for crews because the hoses and water were freezing.

South Township Road and County Road 26 are closed while firefighters are on scene. Roads in the area are being salted to account for ice from the water used to put out the fire.

The state fire marshal will be out later today to determine what started the fire.
