(TOLEDO) - Hundreds of churches canceled services and an ambulance crew spun while on an emergency run but escaped an accident on Sunday morning.
Freezing rain and sleet made streets and highways icy. Five counties were under level one snow emergencies as of 9:25am.
An ambulance crew on an emergency run headed south on Holland-Sylvania Road spun 180-degrees. The southbound ambulance ended up facing north but didn't hit anything. The driver turned around and resumed the run without incident.
13abc viewers have said that some roads "are a sheet of ice" and one driver told us she already slid through two red lights because of the icy roads.
Snow plows were working to drop salt onto area highways and motorists were traveling below posted speeds.
