TOLEDO (WTVG) -- An empty house in Toledo that caught fire in the middle of the night went up in flames for a second time hours later, burning to the ground.

That house is on the 800 block of Prouty Ave., between Broadway and The Anthony Wayne Trail.

At about 2:30AM, Toledo Firefighters extinguished flames inside the home, which they believed was vacant.

Investigators said there appeared to be multiple points of ignition inside the structure. They later determined the fire had been intentionally set.

Three hours later, at about 5:30AM, firefighters returned to the same house after flames reappeared.

This time, the house was engulfed in fire and smoke, and firefighters took a defensive standpoint, hosing down the home from the outside without sending anyone inside and risking potential injury.

As of 7:00AM, firefighters were able to contain the flames and keep them from spreading to neighboring homes.

No one was hurt in the fire.
