Judges says amnesty week is proving to be a success

TOLEDO (WTVG) - Some people think it's a trap to get non-violent offenders to the Toledo Municipal Court and then arrest them. However, Judge Josh Lanzinger said it's a way to get your freedom back.

Amnesty week is going on right now until Saturday in Toledo.

Judge Lanzinger said it's a second chance for individuals with active bench warrants.

So far people are taking advantage of the week-long program.

"They drop the conviction and they just let you go," said one man. "That easy? asked 13abc. "Yeah, it's that simple in and out," he added.

"They've been able to clear their warrants, resolve their cases and then go down and talk to the people from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles," said Judge Lanzinger.

During the week the courthouse closes at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, amnesty week runs from 8:30-11:30.
