TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The Lights Before Christmas at the Toledo Zoo are shining bright, and all it takes is a few seconds to vote them the best in the country for the second year in a row.
Shayla Bell Moriarty, Director Of Communications with the zoo explains, "We were nominated last year and we won, and we also won in 2014, so we're looking for a repeat."
It's the USA Today's Reader's Choice Best Zoo Lights. And Shayla says it's an honor that recognizes everyone at the Toledo Zoo.
"It's recognition on a national stage. We have great competition, some regional zoos, some national. But really, it gives credit where credit's due to our horticulture staff and our park ops staff."
With more than a million lights, and new features and experiences each year, Shayla says it's no surprise that the Zoo is back in the running.
"We just do lights very well. With a million plus lights, we're looking at doing LEDs throughout all of our lights. We also have really go experiences with the zoo traditions. So we have things like ice slide, bumper cars and this year we have the 3-D lights."
Voting ends Monday at noon. And you can vote multiple times here: http://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-zoo-lights/lights-before-christmas-at-the-toledo-zoo-toledo-ohio/
