Local duo crowdfunding movie set in NW Ohio

PEMBERVILLE (WTVG) -- Gangsters on the run from the law in the 1930s stop in one Northwest Ohio town during their getaway.

That town happens to be populated by cannibals.

It's the premise behind a yet-to-be-made movie called "Eat Lead."

Writer/Director Bryan Bockbrader and Producer Aurea Lara are based in Los Angeles. They were recently in Toledo to talk about their endeavor.

The two say they have received the backing of Hollywood producers the Duplass brothers as one of five finalists in a contest by the crowdfunding website Seed & Spark.

They're working to boost their social media reach so the film can win the contest outright.

Now, they need to come up with more money, and that's where you come in.

The town with the highest amount of donations will be chosen as a second shooting location for "Eat Lead."

Ohio's film tax incentives have already been secured, according to Bockbrader.

Now, he's moving forward before the contest deadline to get enough money to bring his vision to the big screen.
