McComb and Swanton investigate threats

(TOLEDO) - Deputies in Hancock County say a 16-year-old was taken into custody Thursday after making a verbal threat to students at McComb High School. No one was injured, and the school remained open. No additional details were released.

Meantime, a Swanton Middle School student is also accused of making threatening comments during a lunch period Thursday.

Swanton Local Schools Superintendent Chris Lake posted a message to parents on the school district’s Facebook page. The letter says the incident was quickly reported to the administration and Swanton Police.

The student was taken to the police department. A search produced no weapon.

The superintendent says all threats will be dealt with immediately and community members are urged to report anything suspicious.

The letter does not say whether the student was charged.
