Monroe County extends Hepatitis A clinic

MONROE, Mich. (13abc Action News) - The Monroe County Health Department will be extending the free, walk-in Hepatitis A clinic on Saturday, December 30, 2017.

Clinic hours will begin at 9:00 AM through 2:00 PM. The clinic is designated to vaccinate individuals who consumed food or beverages at Tim Hortons Restaurant, located at 404 S. Monroe Street in Monroe, during the time of December 10 through December 28, 2017.

Signs and symptoms of Hepatitis A include fatigue, poor appetite, stomach pain or tenderness, nausea or vomiting, dark urine and jaundice. Symptoms typically appear 2-6 weeks after exposure. Individuals with symptoms or questions should call their health care provider and seek medical care.

The Hepatitis A series is a two dose series, doses should be six months apart. Immunity from vaccination takes approximately two weeks.
