Firefighters battle massive blaze at a Hancock County pallet business

ALVADA, Ohio (13abc Action News) - A massive fire broke out Friday evening at BR Pallet in rural Hancock County.

Firefighters got the call around 6:30 p.m. at the business located on the 2100 block of County Road 7 in Alvada.

An employee tells 13abc that at least three buildings on the property were destroyed along with pallet processing equipment.

At least one 500 gallon propane tank is also said to have caught fire too, said the employee.

At this point it's unclear how the fire started. A paramedic on scene said there were no injuries reported as of 11:30 Friday night.

Firefighters and first responders from Hancock County and surrounding areas all assisted with the blaze and were battling the flames well into the night.

Water-starved fire trucks refilled with water from nearby ponds as there were no hydrants available in the area.

A firefighter overseeing the refilling operation tells 13abc more than 200,000 gallons had been pumped from one man's pond to be used on the fire.

Volunteers also set up tables around the area with food and water for first responders donated by local stores.
