One person hurt in train vs. car accident

MONROE, Mich. (13abc Action News) - A woman is recovering in a Toledo hospital after police say her car was hit by a train.

Monroe police say the woman was driving on North Dixie Highway Thursday afternoon when she turned onto East Elm and ignored the active railroad crossing gate and signals.

The woman's car was then hit and pushed down the tracks by an oncoming train until it could stop.

Police say the woman was the only person in the car and she sustained minor injuries.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Toledo. No one else was hurt.
