PAULDING, Ohio (WTVG) - The Paulding County Sheriff's Office says Michael Dempsey, who is accused of murdering his girlfriend in Paulding County, is in custody. Dempsey was arrested in Elko, Nevada on charges of being an out-of-state fugitive.
Elko is located in the Northeast part of Nevada. According to Sheriff Jason Landers, police tried to stop the 46-year-old for making an illegal turn. Upon trying to stop him, Dempsey threatened to shoot himself and officers were able to talk him out of it.
Paulding county authorities have been searching for Dempsey since Sunday. The 46-year-old is charged with murdering his girlfriend, whose body was found Sunday afternoon.
Deputies were called to the couple's home at 7546 Rd. 87 on Sunday afternoon, and while searching the property, deputies found Mann inside a vehicle parked in the garage.
Deputies say they have information indicating that Dempsey fled the area. He was last spotted in Bryan, Ohio, hours before Mann's body was found.
The Lucas County coroner will do an autopsy on Mann this week; investigators say they could not see an obvious cause of death.
