Phone scam targets your money as scammers claim you missed federal jury duty

LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio (WTVG) - The Lucas County Sheriff's Office issued a warning about a phone scam on Wednesday.

According to authorities, scammers are calling people in Lucas County from phone number 419-742-0350. The caller then claims that the person missed federal jury duty.

The sheriff's office says the caller is very convincing and demands the would-be victim pay a fine of $500. The scammer asks for the fine to be paid in prepaid cards from either WalMart of Kroger.

The suspect on the other end of the phone also asks for personal information. The Lucas County Sheriff's Office says it will never call to collect a fine or bond for any crime. If you get this call, authorities advise you to hang up.
