Toledo police identify deceased man in officer-involved shooting

TOLEDO (13abc Action News) - Toledo police have identified the man shot and killed by a Toledo police officer Monday. He's identified as Shane Marsh, 44.

Chief George Kral said in a news conference Tuesday morning that officers responded to the home in the 1700 Block of Berkshire Place around 8:20pm.

Police say they were called to a report of a man assaulting a woman at the home.

Chief Kral says after officers arrived on scene, Marsh approached officer Jonathan Curtis with a knife. Curtis fired one shot, striking Marsh. Police say Marsh died on the scene.

Officer Curtis and his partner have been put on administrative leave as per protocol in a shooting investigation like.

Chief Kral said at this news conference that it initially appears the officers acted within the law and department policies.
