WAUSEON, Ohio (WTVG) - A small plane crash landed near the Fulton County airport Wednesday evening. The sheriff's office responded to the report of a plane down.

The small private plane made a hard landing in a field along County Road 14 in Fulton County. The pilot, Allen Markey, tells 13abc the engine failed on approach and the plane lost power.

A friend of the pilot also says the plane lost power as it approached the airport while attempting to land after a trip from Columbus, Ohio.

Everyone on board got out safely. One person was taken to the hospital to be checked out after complaining of chest pain.

"We're going to conduct the initial investigation for this," Sgt. Chris Fitzgerald, Ohio State Highway Patrol said. "We've also contacted the FAA and traffic safety board and they'll complete their investigations in reference to the crash."

The Fulton County airport is north of Wauseon and the Ohio Turnpike.
