TOLEDO (WTVG) -- Before you dine out, you might want to take some notes.
This week, we are only featuring restaurants that are violation-free and all of them are on Monroe Street.
We start with The Pub at Paula Brown Shop (912 Monroe Street, Toledo).
You can grab a drink and take a break from shopping here Tuesday through Saturday. The Pub has been part of Paula Brown Shop the past three years and it's violation-free!
The next stop is a twofer. In the Monroe Street Plaza (5208 Monroe Street, Toledo), Honeybaked Ham is violation-free and so is Firehouse Subs.
Farther down Monroe Street in the Boardwalk Plaza (5300 Monroe Street, Toledo) is Dairy Queen. That's where employees are smiling because the cherry on top? It's violation-free!
Monica Mazziotti has been a co-owner of this Dairy Queen the past six years. She's inside the restaurant working alongside her employees to make sure all that soft-serve is smoothly running.
"We basically have checklists and procedures that we follow every day, every week. So, that really helps," says Mazziotti, "but it definitely takes someone coming in and looking and making sure that all the areas are always clean."
Finally, just across Monroe Street from DQ: Rachel Michael's Gourmet Popcorn (5307 Monroe Street, Toledo). They've been here more than four years and they're violation-free!
Owner Rachel Maciniak-Matthews says the secret to success is sticking to a routine and being an employer who is hand-on.
"Whatever I sell, I would eat myself," says Maciniak-Matthews. "So, I think that helps when you try and consider the cleanliness of the establishment."
You'll hear the same sentiment at all five of these restaurants on Monroe Street. That's why they're all violation-free.
