Restaurant Report Card: 8.10.17 Arturo's

TOLEDO (WTVG) -- We start with a restaurant that had the minimum number of violations to be on the Restaurant Report Card.

The head chef at Table Forty 4 wanted to show you around so you could see for yourself all of those violations have been corrected.

During the last Standard Health Inspection, Table Forty 4 on Monroe Street downtown had 10 Violations, including 4 Critical:

X Gnats at the bar.
X Build up in the ice machine.
X Servers cooler and salad cooler holding above 50F.

After that inspection, Head Chef Chris Denman says the owners of Table Forty 4 bought new coolers and a new ice machine.

They also hired an exterminator and got rid of the gnats.

Now, Chef Chris says Table Forty 4 is violation-free and good to go.

Next, China Star on Dorr St. and Collingwood had 13 Violations, 10 considered Critical:

X Personal items including meds stored on top of prep table.
X Doors open and flies in kitchen.
X No sanitizer set ups throughout the kitchen.

That violation, along with one other, was corrected at the time of the inspection.

In response, the owner of China Star told 13abc over the phone:
"We fixed (the violations) the same day, and we fixed all of what they required." - Frank Lin, Owner

Finally, Arturo's Fritz and Alfredo's in Holland. The owner wanted you to take a look around so you can see for yourself all of the violations here have been corrected.

When a sanitarian was here, the Standard Health Inspection ended with 16 Violations, 11 of which were considered Critical:

X Cooler holding foods between 50F- 62F.
X Back hand sink was blocked with bucket.
X Foods held refrigerated not properly date marked.

Art Cavazos, owner of Arturo's Fritz and Alfredo's has been in this location three and a half years, and wants to apologize to his customers about the results of this inspection.

"I do feel bad because, you know, a lot of this stuff is just common sense," says Cavazos. "I'm really sorry. I apologize to all my customers for the bad review I'm getting. Totally uncalled for. Totally my responsibility. It all falls on me. I don't know what else I can say besides I'm sorry. Everything was corrected. It won't happen again."

Many of the violations Cavazos fixed on the spot, the rest, he showed us, have already been corrected.

"Everything's been corrected, you know, so, I hope everything turns out good for me," added Cavazos.
