Sale of Spring Meadow Senior Community could lead to layoffs

TOLEDO (13abc Action News) - J. & D. Enterprises, Ltd. is currently negotiating the sale of the Spring Meadow Senior Community. The company is warning that the sale could lead to employee layoffs.

According to a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) filling, J & D. Enterprises believes that the future owner will retain nearly all of the personnel. But because they can't guarantee that the company has complied with the federal requirement to warn the government and officials if a massive layoff could occur.

Currently 122 people work at the Spring Meadow Senior Community on 1125 Clarion Avenue in Holland, Ohio. If the new owner, Spring Meadow Realty, LLC. does not offer employment to the current staff termination will occur between January 1-15, 2017.

Employees at the facility are currently represented by the Service Employees International Union District 1199 and the Health Care and Social Service Union CTW, CLC.
