TOLEDO (WTVG) - The Salvation Army is providing backpacks to make sure children in the area have the supplies they need when the school year begins.
The agency is accepting applications July 18 & 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at 620 N. Erie St. in Toledo.
Parents are encouraged to call 211 first to make sure another group isn't providing backpacks for their school.
People referred to the Salvation Army need to bring:
- Photo ID
- Proof of address
- Proof of income
- Something with Child's Birth Date (i.e., birth certificates, JFS printout, medical cards)
- Proof of custody if not child's birth parent
In Ottawa County, people can contact the Port Clinton Salvation Army Service Center at 419-732-2769. In Wood County, people can contact the Bowling Green Salvation Army Service Center at 419-352-5918.

The Salvation Army in Wood County is hosting a back to school fair to help families with school supplies and information and services for next school year. Parents and guardians can pre-register by contacting the Salvation Army at 419-352-5918 or the United Way at 419-352-2390. The agencies need the student's name, grade level, school, parent/guardian's name and phone number.
The fair happens from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. August 9. It's at the Woodland Mall at 1234 N. Main St. in Bowling Green.
