PERKINS TWP. (WTVG) -- One man is dead after the car he was driving crashed into a fire hydrant and a utility pole.

The accident happened at about 12:43AM Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017.

State troopers say Kurt Fischer, 50, of Sandusky, was driving on Columbus Ave. near Strub Rd. when his car veered into a fire hydrant.

The vehicle continued north until it struck a utility pole, killing the driver.

Fischer was the only one inside the car and no other vehicles were involved.

Troopers say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
