Search continues for two people on raft in Lake Erie

NORTH KINGSVILLE, Ohio (WTVG) -- An overnight search continues for two people last seen on an inflatable raft 500 yards off the shoreline of North Kingsville, Ohio.

The U.S. Coast Guard sent a news release stating the search, which began late Monday, remains active and ongoing.

A witness tells the USCG one person on the raft jumped into the water and attempted to swim and pull the raft to shore.

However, that witness lost sight of the two.

According to the news release, "Coast Guard Station Ashtabula launched a 25-foot response boat - small and Air Station Detroit launched an MH-65 helicopter to search for the people in distress. Coast Guard crews will continue to search through the night."
