TOLEDO, Ohio (13abc Action News) - It's time for open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act.
This year your window to sign up is much shorter at six weeks starting November 1 through December 15. You can sign up at Healthcare.gov.
The major change this year is that there will be no Ohio health care navigators to help you through the process.
A 71 percent cut in federal funding made it impossible to run the program any longer. So there are a limited number of certified application counselors available to help you at the Toledo Lucas County Health Department along with some at Toledo/Lucas County CareNet.
The number to call for CareNet is 419-842-0800. These counselors can answer questions you have about the policy that best fits your needs. You can qualify for government aid to help you pay your monthly premiums.
To sign up: www.healthcare.gov or dial the Marketplace hot line at 1-800-318-2596. For questions about Medicaid eligibility and enrollment, www.Benefits.Ohio.gov.
Federally qualified health care centers and some community-based assisted resources are still available for in-person assistance. You can find local resources at: https://connector.getcoveredamerica.org/en-us/widget/?original=/connector/
