State Fire Marshal determines origin of fire that killed five

FOSTORIA, Ohio (13abc Action News) - The State Fire Marshal’s Fire and Explosion Investigation Bureau investigated the cause and origin of a deadly fire that occurred on State Route 18 in Fostoria last week.

Investigators have determined the origin of the fire to be on the first floor of the home, on the south facing side.

The cause has been ruled undetermined as investigators could not rule out electrical or heating related sources as potential causes.

The fire occurred around 3:45 a.m. on October 26, and five victims and two dogs were found in the home.

The victims include Jessica Rainey, 7, Cody Rainey, 15, Austin Rainey, 19, Jodi Depinet-Rainey, 41, and James Rainey, 45. Arrangements are pending for the family at the Harrold Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria.
