Suspected shoplifter rescued from Swan Creek overnight

WHITEHOUSE (WTVG) - A man suspected of shoplifting from a gas station is in the hospital Wednesday morning after he ran from police and jumped into Swan Creek.

It happened just before 3AM near Weckerly and Finzel Road in Whitehouse.

A sergeant with the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office tells 13abc a man suspected of shoplifting from a Shell gas station ran from police when he went into Swan Creek.

The man hid in the water for about an hour before firefighters with Whitehouse and Monclova Township pulled him out.

He was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

No word on if any charges have been filed.
