Teen suspect charged with setting vacant home on fire

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Authorities say a 15-year-old suspected arsonist is behind bars, charged with setting a fire inside a Toledo home.

Flames broke out inside a vacant home on Peak Avenue Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters quickly got the fire under control.

Investigators went out to inspect the scene and determined the fire likely started in the attic. During that investigation, authorities questioned a 15-year-old suspect. That suspect was later arrested and charged with aggravated arson.

The Toledo Fire & Rescue Department posted the following message on its Facebook page:

"Our Toledo Fire Investigation Unit was dispatched to yesterday's suspicious fire at 4048 Peak Ave. During the investigation a 15 y/o juvenile was questioned and subsequently arrested for aggravated arson.

Great job by our firefighters who extinguished the fire under extreme weather conditions and to the investigator who made the arrest!

Arsonists beware! If you are thinking about setting a fire consider this: Our investigators have a very particular set of skills. Skills they acquired over a very long career. If you set a fire, they will look for you, they will find you, and they will arrest you!"
