PERRYSBURG Ohio (WTVG) - The Toledo Zoo is working with the City of Perrysburg to microchip chickens in the city limits.

The zoo says its veterinarians are available between 9:00am and Noon on Sept. 30 and Oct. 2. Chicken owners from Perrysburg can bring their animals in to have a microchip implanted. Vets will also perform a short health examination before the procedure.

The move comes after a vote by Perrysburg City Council to allow people who already own chickens in the city to keep them. People who own the animals must register the chickens and follow city regulations. The zoo says it will only microchip chickens whose owners already have an approved application from the city.
