Toledo police investigate early morning robbery and shooting

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Toledo police are investigating an early morning robbery and shooting.

According to a detective, officers pulled over a vehicle for speeding at Upton and ProMedica Parkway just before 4:00am. Upon further investigation, authorities discovered that a man inside the vehicle had been shot.

Police put up crime scene at a nearby home on 18-hundred block of Brussels. Investigators say a woman was planning on meeting a friend at the home when two suspects robbed her. A man got out of a the car and tried to help her when the men shot him in the stomach.

Police say he then tried to drive himself to the hospital when he was pulled over for speeding.

He was then taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive.
