Troopers find $5,000 worth of marijuana during traffic stop in Lucas County

LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio (WTVG) - Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers stopped a driver on I-475 in Lucas County. On Jan 9, troopers saw the driver of the 2003 Ford F-150 with Ohio registration following too closely.

Troopers observed criminal indicators and a patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed 493 grams of marijuana worth $5,000 in the vehicle.

The driver, Ryan Scheerer, 43, of Fremont, was charged with trafficking in marijuana, a fourth-degree felony and possession of marijuana, a fifth-degree felony.
