Two people found dead inside submerged car at Metzgers Marsh

CURTICE, Ohio (WTVG) - A trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol confirms two people were found dead after a water rescue call in Curtice.

The victims have been identified as 41-year-old Joshua Cassady and 51-year-old Kimberly Cassady, both of Toledo.

According to the Lucas County Sheriff's Department, Oregon Police, Jerusalem Twp. Fire and the State Highway Patrol were called to the scene at Metzgers Marsh near the Cooley Canal Yacht Club on Bono Road.

A trooper says a vehicle went off the road into the canal. The car overturned. The victims were found dead inside. There was also a dog inside the vehicle who survived.

Troopers are looking into what caused the car to go off the road and how long it was in the water. Stay with 13abc for updates.
