COLUMBUS (13abc Action News) - Sure it's home to the Ohio State Buckeyes, but the University of Toledo Rockets' Football team will be feeling the love this afternoon in Ohio's capital city.
Northwest Ohio natives and Senators Edna Brown and Randy Gardner plan to recognize the UT Football Team for its 2017 MAC Championship.
Brown (D-Toledo) is the State Senate Minority Whip and Gardner (R-Bowling Green) is the State Senate Majority Floor Leader.
They will present the players and coaches with a resolution honoring their 2017 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship on the Senate Floor.
"In the historic 100th year of UT’s football program, the Rockets brought home the MAC Championship,” said Senator Brown. “These tremendous student-athletes have made Toledo and Ohio proud.”
In December of 2017, the UT football team won their first MAC championship since 2004 by defeating the Akron Zips 45-28.
“I am pleased to join my friend Senator Edna Brown in paying tribute to the Toledo Rockets MAC Championship football team,” said Senator Gardner. “The Lucas County Senate delegation salutes the Rockets through our Senate resolution on a great season.”
