Warrant issued for murder suspect Lonzo Lavelle Rivers Sr.

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Toledo police need your help finding 32 year old Lonzo Rivers Sr. He's accused of shooting and killing Dakoda Rogers. Rogers mother has a message for the man accused of killing her son.

"I would hope that you would turn yourself in. If they do know what's good for them. I'd would rather they turn themselves in."

Detectives say Rivers fired several shots at the victim near South and Spencer at a Stop and Go gas station.

"The suspect which is believed to be Lonzo Rivers walked up and fired some rounds into the car striking the victim. Anybody that can do that can do anything. So it's important that we find him," said Toledo police Captain Joe Heffernan.

According to a court document investigators collected surveillance video and statements made by the suspect to police. Police won't release any other information, but the victim's mother isn't holding back.

"It is a senseless a senseless crime. At no point is gun violence ever the answer to anything. I can't believe he's gone to this violent crime. It has to stop. It has to stop."

The grieving mother says her world has been shattered.

"I can't eat. My mind, my soul, my heart he doesn't know what he took from me. He took something precious from me that I will never get back."

She will never get to laugh, hug or kiss the son she loved so very dearly. She says she hopes you will help police track down her son's killer.

"I hope I can find it in my heart to forgive this person because it's pure evil. This is evil to me. I don't wish this on no mother. No mother should ever have to go through this. This is a pain that will never go away. I will have to live with this for the rest of my life."
