Weekend events prompt road closures around the area

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The Fall season brings events like festivals, parades, and bar crawls to northwest Ohio, and some of them this weekend could slow drivers down.

Tent City is happening Friday through Sunday, an event geared toward raising awareness and money for homeless veterans. Tent City has Jackson closed in front of the Civic Center Mall in downtown Toledo through Sunday at 3:00 PM. The city says that access to the Safety Building will be maintained.

Also happening in downtown Toledo this weekend is the Adams Street Zombie Crawl, happening Saturday evening. This event will have Adams closed between 11th and 21st, 14th Street closed between Jackson and Madison, and 17th closed between Madison and Southard. Drivers can avoid the closures by using Jefferson. These closures are in place Saturday evening through 9:00 AM Sunday.

Drivers in Sylvania are also finding their way around some big events this weekend. Sylvania Police say that the Sylvania Fall Festival will prompt a closure on Main Street between Erie and Monroe Streets on Sunday, 8:00 AM through 4:00 PM. Then, Silica will be closed for the Fall Festival Parade between Convent and Monroe Street starting at 11:00 AM, and Monroe Street will be closed starting at 12:45 PM. Police say that all closures should be lifted by 2:30 PM.

The Racing for Recovery Rock'tober 5K/10K run won't have any roads closed in Sylvania, but police say that drivers can expect delays on Convent and Brint between McCord and King from 9:00 AM through 10:30 AM.
