Woman killed in Fostoria house fire

FOSTORIA, Ohio (WTVG) - Firefighters found one woman's body inside a home that was destroyed by intense flames.

According to investigators, the fire started inside the home at 295 Boston Ave. in Fostoria around 2:30pm on Sunday, Dec. 10. When firefighters arrived at the home, they found heavy flames pouring from the the side and back of the house. The first two firefighters on scene battled intense flames putting out a lot of heat and smoke.

The situation was so intense, firefighters called for additional help. Off-duty personnel and firefighters from the Tiffin Fire Division came to assist.

Fire crews were initially told two people may be inside the home. After searching inside, firefighters found one woman's body. Investigators say she was the only person inside.

The State Fire Marshall's office investigated the cause of the fire. However, investigators couldn't figure out exactly what happened because of the extensive damage the fire caused.

The woman's body was taken to the Seneca County Coroner's office. Her name has not yet been released.
